Fitzroy Symister

Fitzroy Symister grew up in the parish of St. Mary, in the small community of Islington. The natural beauty of the parish has influenced his art.

Symister’s passion for art was developed early at theWaterValleyPrimary School. His talent was recognised and his artistic skills developed when he attended theIslingtonHigh School.

He strives for perfection of form and truth to what he sees. His bold use of colour and his realistic approach captures the essence of his subject matter. He uses the medium acrylic on canvas and enjoys painting diverse subject matter.

Although showing all the skills of a trained artist, he is self taught with a raw talent and a natural ability to make his pieces come to life.

Symister is one of the founders of Open Doors for Art.  A foundation established to develop young artists acrossJamaica and is dedicated to helping them share their talents. The foundation will provide materials to help artists create exceptional artwork and will offer guidance with getting their works exposed.

He would like his work to have a positive impact on true art lovers. He has exhibited at the Liguanea Art Fair, Devon House, Half Moon Hotel, and The Shoppes at Rose Hall among others.

Symister’s influences include Leonardo Da Vinci, Richard Hall, Winston Clarke, and Earl Walker; he lives and works in Nutfield, St. Mary
